The government is thinking big for the tourist season. The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch chaired, Thursday, May 19, 2022 in Rabat, a meeting devoted to the examination of the measures taken to revive the tourism sector after two years of global health crisis, in particular with the registration of positive indicators that can be used to ensure a good launch of the new tourist season, which will contribute to a new boom in the sector. The meeting took place in the presence of Mrs. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mrs. Fatima Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Mr. Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, Mr. Adil Lafkir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Mr. Imad Barrakad, Director General of the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT). During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy presented the ministry's vision to relaunch tourist activity as soon as possible, with the aim of recording this year a monthly influx of tourists equal to or greater than that recorded before the crisis. The ministry's vision also aims to increase the number of tourists and to return, from the year 2023, to the same high level of arrivals, which prevailed in 2019, which was a positive year in terms of influx of tourists. Among the axes on which this vision is based: – Ensuring the greatest number of seats for tourists flocking to our country with the airlines; – Developing tourism promotion, carrying out extensive promotional campaigns and concluding partnerships with global tour operators and digital platforms;- The adequacy of tourism supply and demand, in addition to the tourism investment promotion strategy , in particular, which aims to encourage investment in small and medium-sized enterprises and in the field of entertainment and animation. The Head of Government encouraged all the players concerned to develop human resources in order to support the revival of the tourism sector, calling on the various players in the sector to work for the upgrading of hotel structures in order to improve the quality of services. offered to tourists. He also called on all government departments to support the tourism sector in its resumption of activity, with a view to ensuring its contribution to economic recovery, emphasizing the importance of the implementation of the various to ensure the revival of the sector and the achievement of the objectives set.
