Covid-19: The Council of Government approves a draft decree in favor of the tourism sector

Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 04:51 PM Rabat – The Government Council approved, on Thursday, draft decree n°2.22.135 taken pursuant to decree-law n° 2.20.605 of 26 Muharram 1442 (September 15, 2020 ) enacting exceptional measures for the benefit of certain employers who are members of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and people working for them, certain categories of self-employed workers and non-salaried people benefiting from CNSS coverage, affected by the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic in the tourism sector. During a press briefing at the end of the Council of Government held by videoconference under the chairmanship of the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, underlined that this draft decree comes within the framework of the government's ongoing efforts to support the sectors impacted by the pandemic. The text also aims to set the period from January 1 to March 31, 2022 for the payment of the allowances mentioned in the 1st article of decree n°2.20.605 referred to above, and to define the categories of beneficiaries of the allowance, a- he says. These are employees and trainees benefiting from integration courses, declared in February 2020 to the CNSS by employees carrying out their activity in the various branches of the tourism sector, in addition to tourist guides holding a professional card, while giving the possibility for guides who regularized their situation before March 31, 2022 to benefit from the said indemnity during the same period.
