Around Morocco Tour From Marrakech

12 Days  around Morocco tour from Marrakesh visiting the Ouzoud waterfalls, Essaouira Chefchaouen and the north of Morocco, crossing the Atlas mountains to the south of Morocco towards the  Sahara desert, a camel ride adventure through the desert sand dunes  and spending a night in a desert camp.

ITINERARY OUTLINE

DAY 1

Arrival To Marrakesh - Transfer to the Hotel

Our Driver / Tour guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel  and later on you'll  explore the main square Jemaa el Fnaa and the souks of Marrakech.

DAY 2 

Full Day To Visit Marrakesh

Today you will have the full day to explore  Marrakech a local guide from Marrakesh. You visit the famous Mosque of Koutubia,  souks and explore Ali Ben Youssef Koranic school, the Bahia Palace and Majorelle Gardens. Overnight at a Riad/Hotel in Marrakech.

DAY 3

Marrakech - Essaouira

Today you will have a day trip to Essaouira . We will drive about 175 km away from Marrakech where  you will get to see the  goats on trees on the way to this .  medieval city which is known for its annual festival of Gnaoua music. The UNESCO considers the city to be an international heritage. There are many other things to enjoy during your visit to Essaouira such as its pleasant weather, Moulay Hassan Square,  Skala,the port, the ramparts, and the Jewish district 'Derb Lealouj'. thanks to the ocean breeze, Essaouira benefits from a cool temperature around the year . Overnight in Essaouira.

DAY 4 

Essaouira - Jadida - Casablanca - Rabat

Depart for Rabat will be in the morning around 8:00 am  along side the Atlantic Coast. Pass through El Jadida, a small port city, formerly controlled by the Portuguese, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will stop in Casablanca to visit Mohammed V square and the impressive mosque of Hassan II. Explore the Imperial City of Rabat, including the Mechouar (the ramparts and walls surrounding the Royal Palace), the majestic Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower, and the Oudaya Kasbah, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean .

DAY 5

Rabat - Rif Mountains - Chefchaouen

Depart for Chefchaouen will be in the morning after having breakfast at the hotel  passing through the green valleys of the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen is famous for its blue homes and its a very popular city for travelers around the world and the Moroccans themselves. You will explore the blue city and its narrow alleys and souks and you will get to relax in the square and visit a local farm or hike in  the nearby parks.

DAY 6

Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

After enjoying your breakfast the journey will begin towards the Rif Mountains through the fertile agricultural hills to the Roman Ruins at Volubilis, an open air museum .  We will continue  to Meknes, the Moroccan imperial city and the 17th century heritage where we will stop for lunch and explore the historical huge walls of the Medina. After launch, we will visit Bab el Mansour , Moulay Ismail’s shrine . after the visit of Meknes we will drive  to Fes  where you will spend the night.

DAY 7 

A Full Day To Explore Fes

Today you will have the full day to explore Fez which was considered Mecca of the west and Athena of Africa.It is the second largest city  after Casablanca with a population of approximately 1 million.This city is a the former cultural capital and one of the country's four imperial cities. Fez comprises three distinct parts, Fes el Bali which is the oldest part surrounded by a big wall and more than 9000 narrow streets and allies. Fez-Jdid or the new Fes, home of the Mellah the Jewish quarter and the Ville Nouvelle the newest section of Fez created during the French occupation.Fez el Bali is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Among its narrow streets and allies, the oldest university in the world . The University of Al-Karaouine, founded in AD 859. This University is still operating till this day.

DAY 8

Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Gorges – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

After having breakfast at the hotel  we will drive to  Todra Gorges, passing through Ifrane and we will stop at the cedar forests of Azrou where the wild monkeys are located and this will be a good opportunity to take pictures of  the wilderness in Morocco. Lunch will be in a small  village named Zaida. After lunch we continue the journey through the Atlas Mountains admiring the landscapes of Medilt till we reach Erfoud in which you will start to feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet . You  will welcomed with a cup of tea at you arrival to Merzouga before you check into your hotel  where you will spend the night

DAY 9

Merzouga - Berber Families - Black Desert - Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in Sahara)

After having breakfast in the hotel you will start  by visiting the village of the Khamlia, originally slaves from Sudan to experience their spiritual  music and lifestyle and visit the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, including flamingos.If you are a fan of the handicrafts you may want to  visit the berber nomad wire house where many Berber handicrafts are made and priced lower than the big cities. In the afternoon you will ride the camels to explore the mysterious sand dunes of the Erg-Chebbi where you will spend your first night under the stars. Dinner will be served in a desert camp and after you enjoy your dinner the staff will entertain  by playing local music with the drums .

DAY 10

  Merzouga - Erfoud - Jorf - Todra Gorges - Dades

We will wake  you up in the early morning to enjoy the stunning sunrise over the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert . After the sunrise you will ride your camel back to the hotel where you can have a refreshing shower and  breakfast. Later on we depart towards Tinghir passing by Erfoud and Tinejdad. Afer we  stop for lunch we will continue to Todra gorges via Tinghir. Stopping along the way for pictures and admiring the views. Arrival to Todra Gorges to enjoy its marvelous Canyons  . Later on, we continue to dades and stopping for a panoramic view of dades valley . Overnight in a hotel

DAY 11

Dades Gorges - Ouarzazate - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

We will start in the morning around 8:00 am after  you enjoy your breakfast with a drive to  Ouarzazate  . Stopping for a panoramic view of the kasbah of Taourirt . Another stop will take place  for pictures  near the Atlas film studios. Later on you will visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou and stop for lunch in a local restaurant . In the Afternoon we will drive to Marrakech across the mountains of The high Atlas passing through the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 m in altitude)

DAY 12

Marrakesh - Transfer to the Airport

Transfer from the hotel to the airport and this will be the  end of the 12 days tour from Marrakesh.
