Fifteen travel agencies have been sanctioned by the Travel Agencies Technical Advisory Committee after the latter investigated complaints received against them, said the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social Economy and solidarity, Fatima-Zahra Ammor. Sanctions range from permanent withdrawal of travel agent approval to temporary withdrawal and a warning. Following the examination of the complaints received, the technical advisory committee of travel agencies pronounced sanctions against fifteen agencies, indicated the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima-Zahra Ammor, in response Tuesday to oral questions from deputies in the House of Representatives. According to Ms. Ammor, these sanctions were taken as part of the measures taken by her department, in collaboration with the National Federation of Regional Associations of Travel Agencies in Morocco, to regulate tourist activity and control the quality of services, noting that As part of the review process adopted, the Travel Agencies Technical Advisory Committee received a number of complaints lodged against several travel agencies. Thus, the in-depth examination of these complaints gave rise to a certain number of sanctions, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 31.96 on the status of travel agencies, including the definitive withdrawal of the travel agent license for 3 agencies located in Casablanca and Tetouan. In addition, the Minister specifies that the Committee proceeded to the temporary withdrawal of the travel agent license for a period of three months at two agencies located in Skhirate and Salé. He also sent a warning to nine agencies located in Casablanca, Asilah, Agadir, Rabat and Tiznit. The Minister indicated in this sense that the number of tourist arrivals in Morocco has been multiplied by 4.5 compared to 2021, to reach 2.3 million tourists, i.e. a recovery rate of 52% compared to 2019. regionally, the number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation establishments tripled in Marrakech and Agadir and doubled in several other destinations such as Tangier, Errachidia, Dakhla, Rabat and Casablanca. In addition, the government official welcomed the recording of an overnight recovery rate of 100% in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, 86% in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, 76% in Béni Mellal-Khénifra and the Oriental and 66% in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceïma region.
