The year 2022 looks promising for national tourism, which is even on the way to regaining its pre-pandemic performance. This article is a press review of the daily newspaperAujourd'hui Le Maroc. National tourism is slowly but surely heading towards recovery. After two delicate years marked by restrictions linked to the covid-19 pandemic, the sector is showing signs of recovery in this year 2022 and, during the months of June and July, has recorded recovery rates approaching 100%. “This is the result of the efforts made to upgrade the tourist offer and promote Morocco as a destination”, underlines the daily Today Le Maroc in its publication of Thursday, August 25th. The months of June and July alone recorded a total of 3.2 million tourist arrivals, “including 65% in July, with more than 2 million arrivals”, underlines the daily. This performance is all the more exceptional as it equaled the number of arrivals recorded during the months of June and July 2019, i.e. before the outbreak of the pandemic. These good results are reflected in all the other indicators, such as the number of overnight stays, which stood at 3.8 million for the months of June and July 2022. The same trend is observed in terms of revenue in currencies. These amounted to a total of 27.3 billion dirhams during the first six months of 2022. This is equivalent to a recovery rate of 81% for this first half of 2022, despite the closure of borders. during the first five weeks of the year. If the month of June represents 25% of receipts, it was in July that the recovery trend was confirmed. 1.4 million MREs reached Morocco in July 2022. A figure equal to 100% of the total arrivals recorded in July 2019.By Faisal Ismaili
