Tourist receipts appreciated at the end of January 2023, by 39% compared to their pre-crisis level (2019), to reach for the first time, during the month of January, more than 8.2 billion dirhams (MMDH ), according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF). On a year-on-year basis, these receipts firmed up by 628.4%, instead of a 56% drop a year earlier, specifies the DEPF in its recent economic report. And to note that a framework agreement for the deployment of the strategic roadmap for tourism 2023-2026 was signed during the month of March. This roadmap aims, by 2026, to attract 17.5 million tourists, to reach 120 billion in foreign exchange earnings, to create 80,000 direct and 120,000 indirect jobs, in addition to repositioning tourism as a key sector. in the national economy. This roadmap has a budget envelope of 6.1 billion dirhams.
